French Eye Candy: 14 Villages In National Beauty Pageant
How much does France love its patrimoine? Let us count the ways.
If you want to know how much the French love their Patrimoine, just follow the annual contest to choose the nation’s favorite village. It’s a curious sort of affair but also a hotly contested one.
A village is selected from each region, and then a segment is filmed for broadcast on France 3 television station. Each village gets its moment in the national spotlight as viewers learn about its culture, architecture, and history. I like to think of what this contest would look like in the U.S., and frankly can’t imagine it.
For now, you can vote online for your favorite village until March 25. Here’s just a glimpse of the 14 villages (and the region where they’re located) vying for the crown in this cultural beauty pageant.
