I agree, the vibe is not what it should be here right now with the chaos of the snap elections. The city is already somewhat on lockdown in certain main areas and people who live there need QR codes just to get in and out of their apartments. I still don’t believe the Seine is clean haha. Did Hildago ever really swim in it as promised ? Thanks for all these stats! Very interesting

She will supposedly take the plunge next week. We'll see. I'm dubious. :-)

We all in the hotel industry (and restaurants and commerce) are definitely feeling the hit. Big time. Foreigners are not coming and it started dropping mid-June. July is horrible. Thanks for sharing the Air France press release…it reinforces what we’re feeling. I’m started to post on social media about it. Personally, since no one was asked if we wanted these damned games - I think we in the tourism sector should be compensated for our loss. With all that revenue coming in and all.

Unfortunately, the economic benefits of sports stuff (events, new stadiums, etc.) are always wildly inflated. And in this case, they didn't account for the negative impacts. They probably would have been better off getting Taylor Swift to just tour France for 2 weeks!

It's kind of sad that there is so little collective enthusiasm for these games, although I'm not a huge Olympics fan. My daughter who lives in Paris hesitates to admit she is going to an event as all her friends are anti-Olympics. I didn't realize it was impacting tourism even in Chinon though.
